New Year, New Things; Old Year, New Friends
So it's New Year's Eve, generally a time for reflection and what not. This year has had its ups and downs for me, but the biggest up was discovering the Jossverse and fandom in general. And thanks to fandom and fanfiction, I rediscovered my love for writing. I came to LiveJournal and have made new friends, discovered new ways of enjoying my favoirte TV shows and all in all been amazed at the power of the internet.
I never usually make New Year's resolutions as they tend to get broken easily. So instead I'm going to make a list of things I would like to happen in 2007.
1. For the new year to be better than 2006. I'll just leave it at that.
2. To continue to meet new people through fandom and to deepen the friendships I have with those of you I already know and love. I hope that soon we can meet in person and enjoy talking about our mutual loves.
3. To finish one of my WIPs. I only have two, so that shouldn't be hard. I see it being SoC as I have a better idea of how many parts there are and where the story is going. Healing is just about the journey, but I love the story and there may be a new part to that in the near future.
4. To try new pairings, new characters. Worry not, there will still be plenty of Buffy/Giles, Buffy/Xander, Buffy/Wesley, Giles/Xander and Angel/Wesley. It's just I read all these other pairings and I have small bunnies for them and would like to stretch my boundaries as a writer by attempting to write them, kind of get out of my comfort zone as it were. So keep an eye out for any of the following: Giles/Anya (I already have one story in the works!), Giles/Wesley, Spike/Willow, Spike/Tara. Spike/Xander, Spike/Wesley, Xander/Tara, and possibly Cordelia/Wesley or Cordelia/Xander (if I get the courage up to attempt Cordy!)
5. To better my real life situation in some way. I'll also just leave this as is.
So, Happy New Year to all of you. Thank you for making this year a little bit brighter and for welcoming me with open arms. I love you all.

Okay this will probably go under a cut because none of you really care, but I need to vent somewhere and this is the best place for it.
OMG! This person is making Wes so OOC that he's unrecognizable. She manipulates threads to the way she likes them gets upset if it doesn't go her way. She had Wes cheat on Buffy and Angel (yes he was sleeping with both which was okay with both). The Buffy over there was pregnant by Wes and he cheated, with Lilah! And then had the nerve to break up with Buffy the day after she had a miscarriage. WTF? This is not the Wesley I know and love.
And I'm not the only person to hate on the way she is playing Wesley. There are others. She recently did a thread with the Willow player, bashing Buffy and Xander and then has the nerve to post in the OOC community that we are bashing Wesley! I am dumbfounded and astonished by her nerve. I have gone to the mods but they do not know if there is anything they can do. And the sad thing is this is not the first time she's been complained about.
She does have other characters that are semi-okay. One minor flaw with the way she's playing Simon Tam from Firefly, but other than that, it's pretty good. But with the way she plays Wesley has made it so many of us are avoiding his character and sometimes the other characters she plays. It almost makes me want to abandon this game which I would hate to do because I love all the other people there. It's sad when one person spoils everything,
Merry Christmas!!
All in all it was a pretty good Christmas. Surprisingly, all the adults in the house were up and awake before Liam. Shocking, I know. But once Liam was up, there was no stopping him. There was a whiz through his stocking with only the briefest of moments between gifts before moving onto the next. It was… silly and just totally him.
Then, when it came down to opening actual presents, he was a present opening machine. We were content to let him just go as he had plenty, but he seemed pretty focused on getting to the BIG present that all the other small presents were stacked on. He did stop briefly when he opened the lap harp and accoustic guitar he got. (Yes, guitar.) He was wide eyed at that because he's been loving playing with my sister's guitar so he just gasped and was speechless for a moment. Then he said, “Now I can rock on!” LOL! Then it was back to speedy unwrapping. His big present was this little miniature tent for the genreric action figure he got. He plaed with that quite a bit this afternoon.
I didn't do to badly. Got a brand new soft, baby blue bathrobe from my baby sister. Very soft. Some ornaments for when we have our own place again, including a RudolphThe Red Nosed Reindeer one. Some pretty clothes from mom and dad (in sizes that I didn't think I fit anymore, but I do because I'm wearing some of them now,so yay!!) But the best came from my hubby. He gave me Angel and Wesley and Jack and Daniel. Seriously. *nods* I got the first seasons of both Angel the Series and Stargate SG-1! *G*
Then there was napping as 5:20 in the morning is waaaay to early. Then a good dinner with a drop or so too much wine. And now, just relaxing enjoying the holiday cheer. There were pictures taken, so when they get developed I will scan a few and post them. There might even be one of me. Maybe.

Stargate Atlantis, story nomination and stuff
Why yes, am I feeling spammy today.
I just finished watching last week's Stargate Atlantis, “The Tao of Rodney”. OMG! ROTFL! I love these writers. The last two weeks shows have been some of the best. When SGA first started I found Rodney to be…abrasive to say the least. But slowly, ever so slowly, he has been grwoing on me. And this season, I've found myself really starting to like him. The beginning of the show, his snark with Zelenka, priceless! All the shows need to be written like this, even the serious ones.
My Angel/Stargate SG1 puppet!porn crackfic story got nominated over at the SunnyD awards in the categories of Best Humor, Best Crossover (TV) and Best Crossover Pairing (TV). I am amused and delighted. So here is a button. I don't know why I chose Anya, I guess I just liked the button.
And finally, we got a check today from the state because we were eligible for cash assistance. So hubby went out doing some Christmas shopping. I get to go buy him presents Saturday. It's not going to be much, but at least I feel better knowing he'll have something from me to open on Christmas day.
So a great ending to what started out as a crappy day. Yay!

Am happier now. Had nap and read pr0n, which is always condusive to making things better. Also got unexpected package from RL friend with homemade pumpkin bread and hot cocoa and a $20 gift card. Yay! And there is bubble wrap. No one can stay sad when there is bubble wrap to pop. *nods sagely*
And also HEDGEHOGS! Here, here and here. How can anyone stay sad when looking at those cute little noses and paws and quills and I want one but can't have one *pouts*, but Hedgies! *squees*
Finally writing! I am hoping to get the next part of Season of Change finished soon because it's the Christmas episode and wouldn't it be very awesome if I got it posted in time for Christmas?
