The Government And Women’s Choice

Remember the proposal from the Department of Health and Human Services that would have changed the definition of abortion to include contraception? Well, it’s about to be put forth. In this article, the secretary of the HHS says it has been changed so that anyone in the medical profession who has an objection to providing those services will not be persecuted for doing so. But the proposal is still unclear on what abortion is exactly. Below are my thoughts, most of which comprised an email. I urge all women to contact the email and raise their voice. There is a limited time in which to do so, so please,PLEASE, spread the word. Tell your mothers, sisters, aunts, friends, any woman you care about to let the people in charge know how you feel about this issue. Fun With Random Generators

So, last night/early this morning, Fia linked me to The Random Romance Novel Generator. We had a blast giggling at all the titles it spat out at us. Some of them made no sense whatsover. I mean how am I supposed to  believe The Viking NASCAR Driver and the Blushing Virgin? Or The Indian Tycoon and the Bashful Feminist?

But one of the first ones that she came up with really struck me. “The Scottish Duke’s Unwilling Duchess”. It just screamed Carson/Teyla Harlequin AU. *sigh* I have this feeling I will be writing this sometime in the near future. I really need to stop getting plot bunnies for new things so I can finish at least ONE of my WIPs.

Also, I’d forgotten how much fun it was to RP with Fia.

I Love My Muse Some Days

I am currently working on something that has past (and probably future) Carson/Teyla, will have Teyla/Lorne and knowing me will end up as Carson/Teyla/Lorne. It’s going to be so much fun.

(For all those who are here for the Buffy fic, I haven’t abandoned it. The muse just wants to play in the Stargate sandbox for a while. I figure it’s best to keep her happy.)

OMG, SO AWESOME

Like many kids of my generation, I grew up on Sesame Street. The program is only 7 years older than I am, so I was watching very early on. It’s had it’s up and downs, but I like to think it had more ups. I was so pleased to see Liam watching it when he was smaller (and he still does sometimes) and I can’t wait for Sarah to begin watching it.

Sesame Street has always had the coolest musical and celebrity guests. From Stevie Wonder to REM to Paul Simon and Little Richard. It has been a place to expose kids to all things cultural as well as educational. (Plus Savion Glover got his start there. We know where you came from, Savion.)

So as the show is getting ready to roll out it’s 39th season, there are some really awesome highlight reels I would like to share.

And the best one for last, Neil Patrick Harris! Singing! (unfortunatly the embed feature was disabled so I can only link to this one, but it’s well worth it, I promise!)

Today Was Happy Making

First was a third place finish in Best Romance (behind two AWESOME authors, I am humbled to be in their company) and First place in Best Future fic at the Bodice Ripper Awards, both for Being Chosen Sucks.

Second, the preview for my SGA Big Bang story is getting raves, so I’m anxiously looking forward to the big reveal!

Thirdly, I have an absolutely GORGEOUS pants suit for my middle sister’s wedding (which is next Friday!). It’s a silvery blue and it’s just…… I was quite pleased actually with the selection of bigger women’s clothes in two of the stores we went to, so that made me even happier.
