He was only 33. That’s how old I’m going to be this year. Far too young. He will be missed.
Happy Birthday Nathan!

Thoughts On BSG And Heroes

I spent Monday night catching up on BSG with the hubby rather than watching Chuck and Heroes live. Then this afternoon I caught heroes. I love both Ron Moore and Bryan Fuller. What follows are my thoughts.
I know that the last episode of BSG was very polarizing for many fans. They either loved or hated it. Overall I loved it. Here are the reasons why I did and some of the things that really bothered me. Read more

I’m not sure if I’ve talked a lot about this anywhere, but in what little spare time I have that isn’t spent writing fic (when the muse cooperates), I cross-stitch. It’s something that I’d been a little interested in for a while and I taught myself to do it when Liam was small. Since then I’ve made several things for my family that I’ve given as gifts. More often than not I just did the kit/pattern because it interested me. (I have over a dozen or more finished projects sitting in a drawer because I have no-one to give them too or because I haven’t had a chance to get them framed for myself).
This week I finished up what I consider one of my biggest projects. It wasn’t complicated, just large. I received this afghan from my mother a few Christmases ago and I finally had a chance to embroider something on it, for my sister Sally’s baby (due May 8).This afghan was 58″ by 60″. I feel really accomplished that I got it done for her in time. And she really appreciated it. That’s the best part of doing cross-stictch for me, having someone love the finished project.
For a long time I’ve been contemplating turning my hobby into a money making prospect. If someone saw a pattern/kit that they wanted done, and they had no desire/ability to do it themselves, I’d charge to do it. I figure a base price and add charges for size, difficulty, time and materials (if I had to buy them myself). Brad brought this up today as well. It’s not something that I would try to live on, just something to suppliment our income with. I need to do some research to find out more about how to go about setting up pricing, but I think this is really something that I want to pursue. Cross-stitching for commission. I like the sound of that.

Parenting Thoughts
Toes seem to be an alternative to food/formula.(Sarah likes to try and fit her whole foot in her mouth when she’s getting changed.)
Learning that feet are good for more than chewing on is gleeful. (We bought her an exersaucer, she was so surprised to find she could make herself turn.)
Babies produce enough drool to power a small house. (She is thisclose to having a first tooth.)
Being a parent is one of the few times you can be excited about poop. (self explanatory)
Music does soothe the savage beast. (Sarah loves to dance.)
