Shatner, Get Over Yourself

In the last day or so, all the big entertainment blogs have been posting little tidbits about how William Shatner, aka, Star Trek’s Captain Kirk is upset that he wasn’t invited to fellow Trek alum George Takei’s wedding.

Boo hoo.

George has responded by saying Shatner was issued an invitation but never responded. Either way, I don’t think it matters. It was George’s wedding and both he and his partner Brad made the decisions as to who got to come and who stayed home. So even if Shatner didn’t get invited he should suck it up and just wish George and Brad the best instead of making a huge fuss about it. You’re almost 80 years old man, act like it.

I Voted Today

How is that possible when the election is at least a month away? I sent off for an absentee ballot and it arrived today. I did so because well, the election is being held four days before my due date. Knowing my luck I’d be in labor that day, or in line to vote or actually voting when my water broke, so I was taking no chances. I love my baby, but nothing is getting in the way of me excersing my right to vote.

Now, I’ve pretty much kept politics out of both my blogs because it’s such a divisive issue and I have a varied and large list of friends and readers who probably sit on either side of the fence, and some who straddle it. But I’m going to take a moment and urge each and every one of you to get out there and VOTE. Registration deadlines are fast approaching in many states, so make sure that you are registered at your current address. Then, on November 4th, make your voice, your vote, count.

Many people say, “But it’s only one vote, why should I care?” Because many an election has been decided by slim margins, some even by that one vote. If you’ve sat around and complained about the way things are done on a national, state, regional or local level, this is your chance to make a change. By voting you can let it be known to the people in power how you want things done. So get out there, investigate the candidates, the issues, make a change. If you need information, your local library is a good place to start.

Remember, only you can decide if you want to effect change. So please, VOTE.

Randomness For Today

Brad was telling me about finding something in the garage and my repsonse was “Awesomsauce.” He replied, “Is that the Captain’s personal barbeque recipe?” (referring to the Chuck character) *giggles*

Tx_cronopio linked to this article about mathemeticians at UCLA discovering a new prime number with 13 million digits. One of the first things I thought was, hey, that’s going to make John and Rodney’s games of Prime/Not Prime a heck of a lot more intersting.

We majorly fannish. LOL.

They say that hate is a strong word. Well, it’s not strong enough to say how I feel about Brad Wright, Robert C. Cooper and anyone else involved in the cancellation of Stargate:Atlantis. Read more

I Love John Scalzi

I really, really do. He’s not only a great science fiction author but he has a great mind. Smart is sexy.

In recent posts he’s been tackling the debate going on in California regarding gay marriages (he’s all for them). The dialog he produces among the readers of his blog is just as thought provoking, so read the comments and maybe make your own.

The posts can be found here and here.
