Shatner, Get Over Yourself

In the last day or so, all the big entertainment blogs have been posting little tidbits about how William Shatner, aka, Star Trek’s Captain Kirk is upset that he wasn’t invited to fellow Trek alum George Takei’s wedding.
Boo hoo.
George has responded by saying Shatner was issued an invitation but never responded. Either way, I don’t think it matters. It was George’s wedding and both he and his partner Brad made the decisions as to who got to come and who stayed home. So even if Shatner didn’t get invited he should suck it up and just wish George and Brad the best instead of making a huge fuss about it. You’re almost 80 years old man, act like it.

That’s right, as of today, I am 36 weeks pregnant. And boy do I feel it.
Getting to sleep and staying asleep is an adventure. Solid eight hour nights are going to be a thing of the past until Sarah is sleeping through the night. When I stand up, I can’t see my feet, that’s how big I’m getting. I’m not sure how I feel about that. My bellybutton is threatening to become an outie. That never happened with Liam. And best of all (sarcasm), the nausea has returned. Depending on what I eat, when I eat or how much I eat, my stomach protests. All perfectly normal the midwives assure me.
Next week is the bigger milestone. 37 weeks is typically considered “full term”. That means Sarah has pretty much done all her important growing and can survive outside the womb should I go into labor. So, yeah, after next week, all bets are off as to when she’ll arrive. Then Brad goes and tells me stories of one of his online friends who, despite all the ultrasounds saying there was only one baby, had twins. Good God, if that happens…… Now there have been twins, on my mother’s side of the family, but none in two generations. I prefer to think the two ultrasounds I had were correct and that Sarah’s the only one in there.
So basically at this point, it’s all sit and wait. The office/nursery is almost clean so we’ll be moving the crib in there soon. We have everything else we need; stroller, car seat, playpen. Clothes are coming from my family. Here’s to waiting.

Brad was telling me about finding something in the garage and my repsonse was “Awesomsauce.” He replied, “Is that the Captain’s personal barbeque recipe?” (referring to the Chuck character) *giggles*
Tx_cronopio linked to this article about mathemeticians at UCLA discovering a new prime number with 13 million digits. One of the first things I thought was, hey, that’s going to make John and Rodney’s games of Prime/Not Prime a heck of a lot more intersting.
We majorly fannish. LOL.

They say that hate is a strong word. Well, it’s not strong enough to say how I feel about Brad Wright, Robert C. Cooper and anyone else involved in the cancellation of Stargate:Atlantis. Read more

So, back when Brad and I first got together he did this really romantic thing and gave me a page or so of ‘coupons’ that he made up. They were redeemable for things like a passionate kiss, or a hug, etc. Well I used a few of them and then they got put away forgotten but surviving all our various moves and such.
Brad just had me cleaning out this little set of drawers (tiny ones, like you’d fit on a desk) and there they were. Eleven years later (they’re dated July 15, 1997) and I still have them. Brad joked that he should have put an expiration date on them. Lol. There are still several kissing ones, one for an apology, one giving me permission to hit him over the head with a pillow (he has to provide the pillow). But my favorites, and ones I’m saving for a while are; one entitling me to a cheescake or carrot cake (homemade), one that says he’ll be at my beck and call for a whole day (including footrubs/massages) and one for a dinner date (which will have to wait for when we have more money).
It just goes to show that deep down, he really is a romantic soul.

I should be writing. Really. I have something due on the 8th. I have the idea for it. But I just can’t get motivated to write it for some reason. Bad me.
Instead I’ve spent the last two days reading X-files Mulder/Scully fic. *sigh* And some Iron Man Tony/Pepper for variety.
In in yay news I have my greedy little hands on Series one of the new Dr. Who. I put it (and series two and three) on reserve at the library back in February and it finally made its way to me. Now granted I’ve seen series one twice already thanks to Netflix view instantly, but now I can watch it in surround sound. And all the behind the scenes stuff too. And the library’s website tells me that series two is in transit, so double yay! Now if only they’d get me the first season of Farscape (which I’ve had on reserve since last October).
I’m remembering now why I hated being pregnant in the summer with Liam. It’s hot and sweaty and just generally uncomfortable. Thank god for central air. And when did I become less bendy? I mean I know baby belly and getting older have something to do with it, but I distinctly remember a time when I could touch my toes without a second thought (or without becoming winded). And for about a day there Sarah decided to sit herself on my right side, just below my ribs. It was decidely uncomfortable, not just to lay down on that side, but to sit. And I have 20 more weeks to go.
I keep trying to remember to take a picture of the baby belly, but neither of us can remember where the heck the digital camera is. Once it is found I promise there will be pictures.
Random Liam hugs are awesome.
It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that Dragon*Con is out of the question this year. Which is a shame cause the guest list is to die for. Fia is not going either. So we’ll mope together. Though I did invite her down here to spend time with us. (And no, it has nothing to do with the fact I need more incentive to clean out the third bedroom/office/nursery). But it would be awesomesauce to have her here so she could meet Liam and Brad and my family (I talk about her often enough) and just generally fangirl.
That’s about all for now.

Today is a day of mourning and of celebration.
We mourn the passing of the legendary comedian and word smith, George Carlin. He’s most famously known for his routine on the seven words you can’t say on television (only three or four of which are still majorly taboo). Younger fans may know him from his roles in the Bill and Ted movies or from Kevin Smith’s many movies. I got the chance to see him live in concert a few years ago. Although we were quite a ways from the stage, I’ll never forget it. The world is a lesser place without you in it, George.
But we also celebrate the birthday of another word smith and world builder, Joss Whedon. The man who brought us Buffy, Angel and Firefly and who is preparing to bring us Dollhouse. How we love to love (and to hate sometimes) the man who brings us kick ass female characters. Brad and I will be celebrating by going to a charity screening of Serenity tonight, I’m sure all you Whedonites out there will find other ways to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Joss.
