Meme! Five Fictional Women who are My Heroes

I love this meme!

Susan Ivonova, Babylon 5: Tough, but knew when to bend. Smart, innovative, thought fast on her feet. Vulnerable, but only on her terms. She had a wit about her that I wish we could have seen more of. She should have had a better send off. Also, Russian Jew in space in the future, win.

Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: She may not have been the Council’s ideal, but she got the job done and better than many others did. She strove to have both the destiny she didn’t ask for and the normal life she craved. Watching her face real monsters made all my metaphorical ones pale in comparison.

Dana Scully, The X-Files: The fact that she passed on a medical career to serve her country is a big factor here, but she’s also cool under pressure, logical, steadfast and loyal. Her love for her work showed as did her trust in her partner no matter what. She faced death with a grace and dignity I aspire to.

Teyla Emmagan, Stargate Atlantis: The outsider who joins the fight. The stranger no one trusts until they have to. She’s become an integral part of the team and takes no guff from anyone, even her friends. She is the heart of the city. Plus, she showed that pregnant women can still kick ass.

Janet Fraiser, Stargate SG-1: The tough no nonsense base doctor who even had rugged Generals quaking in their boots. But she was also kind and compassionate. She fought alien viruses with little or no help, raised an alien child as her own, went out into the field to help an injured man who couldn’t be moved. She deserved better.

I do notice the trend with Sci-Fi shows. I'm a sci-fi fanatic. I've only scene the first half of the first season of Babylon 5, but plan on watching the rest. Firefly, Farscape and the Dead Zone are all on my must see list! Anticipating the return of Sci-Fi Fridays! (Daniel and Carson and JACK!!!!) Most of my shows are watched now via downloads, got rid of cable because it cost too much. And the only things I miss are Mythbusters and the Daily Show.
