Shatner, Get Over Yourself

In the last day or so, all the big entertainment blogs have been posting little tidbits about how William Shatner, aka, Star Trek’s Captain Kirk is upset that he wasn’t invited to fellow Trek alum George Takei’s wedding.
Boo hoo.
George has responded by saying Shatner was issued an invitation but never responded. Either way, I don’t think it matters. It was George’s wedding and both he and his partner Brad made the decisions as to who got to come and who stayed home. So even if Shatner didn’t get invited he should suck it up and just wish George and Brad the best instead of making a huge fuss about it. You’re almost 80 years old man, act like it.

At which I am currently sitting at in an battered but comfy chair. It’s kind of nice not to have my laptop perched on the edge of a chair’s arm.
But more importantly, the reason I have a desk is that it was moved from the office/third bedroom to make room for the crib. Tomorrow there is massive amounts of cleaning happening. In the office, in the living room, just lots of cleaning. And somewhere in there I go see the midwives.
Most of my days lately have just involved trying to get into a comfortable position while sitting. While Sarah thwarts those plans by sticking her head/foot/some body part just under my ribs. Two weeks ago the midwife was all “well, she’ll start slowing down now, less moving because she’s getting bigger and there’s less room to move around in there”. Uh huh. Somehow I don’t think Sarah got the memo. Of course my child is going to be stubborn. I don’t think she’d be my child otherwise.
Oh, unofficially, we’ve started a baby pool. No money involved, but if you wanna take a stab at when Miss Sarah will be making her arrival into this world, go right ahead. My baby sister has already claimed Nov. 4th, cause she thought it would be kinda cool for Sarah to be born on election day.

DISCLAIMER: I want to start this post off by stating for the record that I have never read, not do I intend to read, the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyers. Everything I know about the series comes from hearsay, rumor, the internet and most of all Stoney321’s cracktastic reviews of the books, found here. Read more

Remember the proposal from the Department of Health and Human Services that would have changed the definition of abortion to include contraception? Well, it’s about to be put forth. In this article, the secretary of the HHS says it has been changed so that anyone in the medical profession who has an objection to providing those services will not be persecuted for doing so. But the proposal is still unclear on what abortion is exactly. Below are my thoughts, most of which comprised an email. I urge all women to contact the email and raise their voice. There is a limited time in which to do so, so please,PLEASE, spread the word. Tell your mothers, sisters, aunts, friends, any woman you care about to let the people in charge know how you feel about this issue. It doesn’t matter how eloquent you are, just let your voice be heard! Read more

So, last night/early this morning, Fia linked me to The Random Romance Novel Generator. We had a blast giggling at all the titles it spat out at us. Some of them made no sense whatsover. I mean how am I supposed to believe The Viking NASCAR Driver and the Blushing Virgin? Or The Indian Tycoon and the Bashful Feminist?
But one of the first ones that she came up with really struck me. “The Scottish Duke’s Unwilling Duchess”. It just screamed Carson/Teyla Harlequin AU. *sigh* I have this feeling I will be writing this sometime in the near future. I really need to stop getting plot bunnies for new things so I can finish at least ONE of my WIPs.
Also, I’d forgotten how much fun it was to RP with Fia.
