Doctor Who (Seasons 3 And 4)

I’m not sure that I have entirely processed everything that happened, but here are my thoughts.

Season Three: I did like Martha. But I felt so sorry for her. No wonder the Rose fans couldn’t let go. She was mentioned in almost every damn episode. I think that cheapened Martha’s experience. I understand that The Doctor had to grieve, but at some point you have to say enough is enough.

I loved the second half of the series a hell of a lot. Human Nature/Family of Blood and Blink (OMG srs love for that). And the revealing of the Master, YES. I ADORED the Master. I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to steal a scene from David Tennant, but there was John Simm doing just that.

Also, John Barrowman owns a teeny piece of my soul. The entire dialog between Jack and The Doctor in Utopia *wibble* and that he just can’t stop flirting. It’s hardwired into Jack’s make-up.

Season Four: I love Donna. It was sad to see Martha go, but Donna, I think she’s my favorite companion of all. She’s sassy, spunky and just the jolt The Doctor needed. I am glad they brought Martha back for a bit to give her a little better of a story than she got last season.

Silence in the Library/The Forest of the Dead was standout for me this season. I really liked River Song. I’m torn between wanting to see her again in the future and yet not wanting too because so much of what we know about The Doctor is shrouded in mystery. I’m thinking the only way The Doctor would have given her his name is if he was on his last regeneration (cause he only has so many of those).

The last episodes. What to say. I love that we had all of the people who have been with the Doctor in the last three years. Sarah Jane, Mickey, Jackie, Rose, K-9, Harriet Jones, Jack (and Gwen and Ianto), but the end….Donna deserved so much better than that.

I hope that we get to see The Doctor mourning her loss as well, second guessing what he did. Surely that had to have been another way? Like re-absorbing his powers, like Nine did with Rose at the end of Season one? But I guess that’s what fan fic is for. At least the whole Rose story line is wrapped up. Not that I didn’t like Rose, because I did, but it was getting a bit tedious and I hope that we don’t get too many mentions of her in seasons to come.

That being said, let me wallow in the squee over the returning characters. I guess I am going to be finding Sarah Jane’s show because I do so love the fact that an older woman is out there kicking alien butt. And seeing the Torchwood crew made me long for more of that show. I even miss Gwen (shocking I know!). Ianto holding a gun is too hot for words. And Jack…oh Jack. You dirty minded flirting machine you. Never change. And if it’s not too much to hope for, seeing Martha and Mickey walk off with him at the end, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see them both at Torchwood.

*sigh* So, now I am all caught up and yearning for more Who. I shall be scouring my library for classic Who, any suggestions?
